HOLA FROM VALLEY DE ANGELLES, HONDURAS.

We arrived on the 9th & have been getting settled into our ministry and home for the past couple of days. I’ve never seen anyhing quite like this city- the colors are bright, the air is fresh, & spiritually it’s so peaceful. Every morning I get to stare at the bluest sky hovering over the greenest of mountains, with some flowers here & there, and just talk to God. The views here will be hard to forget but are so easy to appreciate.

Last Sunday I was able to go to a small church (there were about 10 people there not including myself & 3 others) where we sang Spanish songs & listened to their pastor, Daisy, give a sermon. They were incredibly welcoming & even got someone to translate for us. We were able to attend the same church today for the second time- it was an awesome experience (unsurprisingly) & we hope to grow to know these people more and more.

A lot of our ministry here will be done at a special needs orphanage- painting, reconstructing a garden, organizing a gospel choir. So far we’ve been rolling yarn for the people that live there so they can continue to work by making and selling rugs, purses, etc. I’ve gotten to know a couple of the residents better and they’ve been a huge joy and encouragement to be around! They love taking pictures so I’m sure I’ll have a few to share at some point 🙂

Our ministry hosts are giving us Spanish lessons so we can better connect with the people we’ll encounter (so far all I can remember is hola), & have set up classes for us each Monday that will teach us how to effectively minister to & serve others on & off the field. David (from Texas) & Scarleth (from Honduras) have been married for seven years, and have a ministry called Hope At Hand which helps kids by donating meals, transportation to school, and bible studies. David & Scarleth have hosted numerous World Race teams, and we’re their first gap year! Their goal is not for us to reach every single person here, but for us to effectively share the love of Jesus with the people we’ll be working with, and for us to experience God in new ways.
