Hellooo! My name is Leah Dailey, I’m 18 years old and I’m from Cedar Falls, Iowa.
I have 3 sisters, a brother, and two wonderful parents. Growing up, my parents were always encouraging my walk with God. Two years ago they allowed me to go to Haiti for a short-term mission trip. There, I experienced the love of God through Haitian culture, particularly through the people I was blessed to serve. They have so little yet are so joyful, and that joy comes from the Lord. Because of that short time spent with such loving people, the way I saw Christianity completely shifted. I saw how important it is to share that commonality with one another- every person on this earth is loved SO dearly by our Father, and to live life being led by the one who created us is ideal (in my opinion).
My senior year of high school I felt like I was being led somewhere other than college, and I had a desire to go somewhere I could really focus on God & grow in intimacy with Him while serving, so I decided to apply for the World Race Gap Year. I’ve always loved meeting new people & hearing their stories/helping in any way possible, so nine months of sharing Jesus with others in different places and cultures sounded like a dream. I’ve been particularly passionate about helping women, whether that means through listening, encouraging, or simply doing feminine activities- building each other up and empowering each other by sharing in one another’s struggles/experiences is so important and creates so much unity. I’ve also always loved babies and loving on them (my heart just melts every time I even breathe in the direction of a child), so whatever ministry includes taking care of babies is one that I find exciting. There are other areas that I love to engage in, whether that means helping people with special needs, manual labor, teaching English, evangelism, etc. They’re all so rewarding (through planting seeds and building kingdom), and glorify the Lord- which is the ultimate goal.
A couple of fun facts about me: I love love love being outdoors whether it’s hammocking, biking, running, and being able to take in all of the views, fresh air, you name it. Seeing mountains, flowers, blue skies, tall trees & stars gets my senses hyped. I’m a relational person, and having conversations that are more than surface-level makes me feel alive & connected to people and the Lord more than most things. I also love to praise Him through worship & serving the people around me.
I’m still in need of more funds, so please consider donating! Prayers are also very appreciated 🙂 Thank you thank you, all!
