So I haven’t really known what to write for my first international World Racing blog. It has to be memorable. It should be incredible. Yet heartfelt. Deep and spiritual…a revelation of wonders about all I’ve seen. I should give you story upon story of deeds to prove that I am worth the money my supporters give.
Well…
We’ve cooked. We’ve cleaned. We’ve gone to services. We’ve played with children and taught them. We’re doing the missionary thing. We’re searching the Word and spending time with each other. We’re living together in imperfect harmony- and wonky melody – we’re doing the community thing.
And beyond that? Oh, nothing much. That’s just where the incredible, the spiritual, revelatory and wonderful lie. It’s in the day to day, in the people, in the team, in the Word and in the Lord.
God convicted me of this and asked me one day, What did you go out to see? What were you looking for?
Adventures and explorations…Deep, spiritual truths… incredible deeds?
And what did you find?
Quite a bit more actually. A life beyond.
Let me explain. The majority of life’s distractions are gone here. I don’t have tv or time to distract me from the things the Lord is doing. And that’s not to say everything is always wonderful. For example, the last three days have been quite trying. These kids get annoying, I accidentally told a guy I love him, my stomach hurts and it’s a little warm here.
So in these terrible things I have my team if they’re available, maybe my family if wifi works well enough. But finally I realize Jesus is the one I need to be working things through with. We’ve had some awesome dates by the fish tank, we’ve had to work through our problems by the plants. And when I try to distract myself from going deeper- because that’s just what people do- He uses that too to draw me in.
Maybe that’s what I’ll leave behind here, distractions. And I’ll take with me a life beyond it all.
