Who knew that yak was so tasty?
Last week I went out to dinner with a friend to a Nepalese restaurant, neither of us had ever had Napalese cuisine before and I was curious how it would taste since for the whole month of October I would be eating this type of food. As I perused the menu I came accross an appetizer (chamena) called “Kathmandu momo” and behind the description it said choice of meat and listed out all the usual choices and then said or yak for $1 more. Oh this peaked my interest, I thought to myself when else are you going to get the chance to eat yak in the US? So we went out on a limb and ordered it (among a lot of other amazing food), honestly I had very low expectations for this meat I was thinking chewy, stringy, gamey or fatty, or all of these things. However, to my amazement it was delicious. I had no idea what to expect from Napalese cuisine, but I loved it and after tasting their food and talking to the Nepalese owners I am so stoked to be going to Nepal.
I feel this experience is a small taste of what this next year will be like, I am excited to see how the Lord will exceed any and all of my expectations of this trip. I mostly can’t wait to meet the people from El Salvador, worship with the people in Uganda, laugh and play with the kids in Cambodia, work side by side with women in Tanzania, eat and talk with those from Nepal, cook with the women in Nicaragua, hug and pray with the prostituted women in Thailand, smile and dance with those from India, rejoice with those in Tanzania, and cry with those in Rwanda, and sing with those from Honduras and Malaysia. I am truely grateful adn honored to be able to go around the world and be Jesus to those that haven’t heard and haven’t experienced the love of the Father. Thank you for sending me!
