I’ll admit that I love birthdays, ever
since I can remember my family has always made a big deal of
birthdays. Growing up I had 2 birthday celebrations one for friends
and one for family, my parents and family always knew how to make my
day special. That’s why I miss my family on my birthday when I’m away
from home but they always seem to know how to make my day special any
way. It’s kinda funny because out of the past 4 birthdays I’ve only
spent one at home in the US, maybe God is teaching me about who my
family is? Don’t get me wrong I love my family and love spending time
with my family and I am so grateful for the family I have, but we as
Christians have a bigger family with many sisters and brothers and
they are just as important as my biological family. God is so good
and everyone of those birthdays that I was away from home God has
made my day just as special as those spent at home. He has used my
brothers and sisters in Christ to bless me and become my family.
This
birthday wasn’t any different and my family here in El Salvador made
me feel so special and so very loved. It all started at midnight when my
teammates Anjali and Melissa and one of our hostesses Suzie attacked
me in my tent. They had made me a pancake birthday cake with
delicious layers of some sort of cream cheese/coffee filling, we
prayed for the day together and asked God for healing at the home for
people with brain paralysis. After we prayed another one of our
hostesses, Bea, spoke some prophetic words over me and we worshiped a
little, and went to sleep. Talk about a great way to start your
birthday.
When we woke up just a few hours later
we went to the brain paralysis home that we go to every thursday and I waited in eager
anticipation for the healing I knew was going to come. We got there
and almost immediately a few of the girls met a little boy named
Alejandro who was 4 years old. This boy had been at the home for 8 months and this was our 3rd time being at the home and we had never seen him before, divine appointment? I think so. This little boy looked like a little
baby maybe 1 year old, and when they brought him over to me to meet
they were cradling him like a little baby, and Suzie said the words I
was thinking, ” He is your birthday present” so all the day long
we held sang and prayed over him, we didn’t see any immediate healing
but I believe that he will be restored to normal 4 year old running
and jumping, singing, playing and talking.
My other favorite part of the day was
the sweet worship we shared with the people there, we saw people that
could hardly talk sing along with us, and people who are usually
disengaged dancing and moving to the music. I loved the sweet ones
that came up to me as I played the guitar and smiled and danced and
desired to be part of the music and worship that was happening. I
didn’t want it to end. ever.
The afternoon was relaxing and I got
the much needed rest I was hoping for and that evening was able to
get a little internet time and I was able to see all of your birthday
emails, messages, and videos, thank you for all of them they made me
feel very special. When we returned from the place where we get
internet I came home to a surprise party, with my team the other team
that is in San Salvador that we work with sometimes, my hostesses and
the couple that lives in the house with us. It was amazing how much
these women already know me: we had a dance party, tres leches cake
and a pinata all to my self. Side note: pinatas are great therapy if
you ever need to get out energy, aggression, or frustration you
should get one of these, of course not that I had any of the above,
but it still was great fun. We ended the evening as a team relaxing
and watching a movie. I felt like a princess and I’m so blessed by
all of these people and all of you who sent birthday blessings. I’m a
blessed woman.
I’ll try to get some pictures of the
day on here, but until then you’ll have to use your imagination! Love
you all!
