I asked the LORD what He wanted me to write about today. You see, I started out thinking about reading some teammates' blogs, but then felt the pull to contribute. It has been a while. But I have so much to say, where do I start? Let's start with a single moment.
Picture this.
Dozens of young people singing at the top of their lungs, praying all at once, different words; while jumping, dancing, hugging and even lying on the ground. Pure chaos. Or is it?
Worship?
And picture, at the center of that worship, a man who cannot hear. I'm sure the story has been told hundreds of times by now, but I need to make a point. Firstly, that the scene before you is beauty. It is beauty because it is worship, and worship for the God who loves us. In that moment we became even more undignified. We did what we were made to do. Do you know what it feels like to do what you were made to do? Every fiber of your being made for this?
Prayer.
Then in this moment as the heavens opened up, we asked the LORD to heal the deaf man's ears.
Did He?
The question that matters more is this, would God still have been big? Powerful? Loving? If He hadn't healed?
Think about it honestly.
Who God is, is not determined by our perception of Him. He is truth and everlasting. He does not change.
So if God was good when you passed that class, got the job or made amends with your long lost brother-then He is good now even when you lose that job and say goodbye to your brother.
So we asked God to show us His power, His love, by healing. Sometimes He wants to show us. Sometimes He leaves room for faith to grow on its own.
I challenge you, next time you ask the LORD to show you something, to ask Him to show you what He would like to show you. Or if you're really daring, ask Him to show you who He really is, beyond your perception of Him. I can promise you, because I know Him, He is far greater than your wildest dreams. And He loves you, don't forget that. It's true whether you believe it or not.
Oh, I almost forgot. The answer is yes. =)
