I had every intention of posting a blog after Training Camp, the last week of May, and telling all about it; clearly, that was a fail.  I will tell you that there will be one coming but this is not it! 🙂  I honestly feel like this blogging thing IS rocket science and I haven't quite figured it out but I wanted to post a quick one asking for all you prayer warriors to join with me in praying for Bustamante, Mexico.

PLEASE PRAY FOR BUSTAMANTE, MEXICO

Bustamante, Mexico is small village about 300 miles south of the Texas-Mexican border's eastern corner.  It's a poor, remote village surrounded by the Sierra Madre Mountains.  I have been on mission trips with Bustamante Outreach 6 times to this same place and visiting many of the surrounding villages too.  The people live off the land in every possible way, with farming as their main source of work.  They get water each morning from the mountains that the government distributes sparingly to each household…when water is available.

They are currently experiencing the worst drought in 70 years not having rain since July 2010, 11 months!!!!!  Since they are strictly dependent on farming for food and work…they are in desperate need of prayer!  Recently they had an outbreak of fires across the mountains putting panic in the people who were watching from the valley this wildfire spread around their surrounding mountains. They couldn't do anything to try and put it out, they had no water, and they were being filled by thick clouds of smoke which I would imagine would cause more fear from the decrease vision making it harder to see the fire.  Answered prayer was celebrated before the fire reached the villages so as far as I know, they don't have anymore fires or serious immediate damage from it!

But, they still are 11 months running without water.  Most sources are drying out, like where animals get water, wells outside of villages.  Right now each head of household gets 2 5gallon buckets of water every 8 days (hopefully) per family.  That is all they have to distribute and that is slowly being emptied, it will only last so long.  I heard many were using much of that alloted water for animals even and not just for drinking because they know they have to have crops to eat, to live, to survive but I think it is too late in the season for a crop now.

Please pray for PROVISION, WATER, RAIN, SPIRITUAL RAIN, PHYSICAL RAIN, LIVESTOCK, CROPS, OUTPOURING OF PROVISION FOR THE PEOPLE OF BUSTAMANTE.

Thank you & Blessings,
  Leah

I've seen God answer prayer for rain before.  I was on a trip two summers back with 30 plus young adults and we spent weeks leading up to our trip in prayer and fasting for specific needs such as: spiritual rain, physical rain, healing, unity, peace, etc.  When we went that trip, Bustamante had gone around 9 months without rain and were in similar desperate need.  We prayed and prayed before, on the way, and during the trip but I had trouble praying in faith that He would send rain, even though I knew He absolutely could if He chose to.  I remember standing in the first village in a circle, everyone crying out for rain and…so God's mighty provision began.  I kid you not, when I say it rained…IT RAINED. It rained every village we went to, it even followed us to and from with wall clouds of rain! There was thunder and lightning and it even hailed! God showed me that trip that not only "can" He but He "will" when we ask in faith!  9 month drought and basically the bottom fell out for most of the week.  So I am praying for God to move in that same Mighty way and send rain for the people, physical and spiritual…because I will say we saw plenty of both! 🙂

Here's a picture of the Sierra Madre Mountains surrounding the villages…beautiful!

And here's one showing that precious precious rain!

And to end this blog…here are some of the sweet faces I know, love, & miss
