(City Scape)

Finally an update on the first country in a long line of adventures that I get to experience this year.
Yesterday was our first day of finally doing ministry. We spent over 17 hours in planes, and a good 6 hours in airports which made for long days. But we made it, and finally got to start doing what we came here.

***(Note this update was actually written on the 13th, but I was having problems getting photos loaded.)

Yesterday we started serving, we had been briefed the day before on the opportunities available and told to pick our top 4 together as a team.

Then the squad leaders and our host divided out the tasks among the groups. First we got the opportunity to help out our host with cleaning and organizing a room, it wasn’t our first choice, but we rolled right with it. It was so cool to watch different people’s gifts come alive. One of the girls on our team is a BOSS at organizing, and we all followed her lead.
We played music over a mini speaker system, screamed a bit from a spider we saw on the wall, got a lot done, then took a water break.

(Imagine these boxes all in the middle, more line the other three walls)

(Flood Zone, where we brought food, to help meet physical needs of the people. When KIM does feedings they always bring a nurse and pastor with them to help meet other needs within the community)

Later in the morning we got to help with feedings. The feedings took place over by where a majority of the flooding took place a couple weeks back. The people are so beautiful here. Most of my team ended up at a clinic (as we found out later) that a small group of women ran. They were snapping photos of us, and asking if we had Facebook. The name of their clinic translated into freedom clinic. 🙂 We ended up talking with, and praying with this beautiful group of ladies.

(Jenny with one of the ladies who helped run the clinic.)

In the afternoon we got some prayer time, and worship in, then waited for kids to get out of school. As kids got out of school, some of us hung outside to invite the girls from the community to come in and hang out with a couple of all girl teams so they would have  help with homework, or get a chance to play games and get their nails painted.

As we were hanging out we got the chance to interact with man of the kids from the community. We played games of hide and seek, tickle monster, patty cake and allowed them to crawl on us, and just be loved. We held, spun and laughed with them all, one little one got so tired she fell asleep in my arms, it was precious and beautiful. As she lay their I prayed over her. That she would know how precious, loved, and beautiful she is, that she grows up protected and allowed to grow in a healthy loving environment.

The Beautiful little girl who feel asleep in my arms. 🙂

We have been so blessed, it’s a shame that this month is cut short, but the opportunities to serve have been vast and plenty.

So for now, goodbye till another update, and Salamat (“thank you” in Philippines) for taking the time to read.
