Wow, feels still so surreal that I am in a different continent!!! South Africa has been amazing so far! Our travel day was really long, to be exact 75 hours. It showed me a lot of how traveling long distance can be tough. When we finally got to Jefferey’s bay they just let us rest and catch up on sleep, which we all needed desperately. The next day we went up a mountain and stayed there. We helped with something called the trans Baviaans! This is a 24 hour mountain bike riding. The distance is 230 kilometers which in miles that is 150 miles. We were at check point four. There were 6 checkpoints. The reason they have these is for safety, you cannot be a single rider in this race. This is because of safety reasons. Some of the riders dropped out at our check point, so if they had a 2 person team you had to find another team. I found this to be crazy that they made it this far. It was an amazing experience, I am also super excited because my team and I get to do this all again this weekend.
Sunday we got home and had church at 4 pm. The service was about your heart with Jesus and how I related to this and what and who I need to forgive. I also enjoyed the church community because of how welcoming they were.
We start our official ministry tomorrow. Please pray for me and my team as we transition into our new life! We will be working in the school with all the kids!
with love
Layne
