February 21st
Recently I have been praying for the Lord to give me visions. To highlight things or people to me. A wise friend of mine told me, “Laurie if you want these things, just ask the Lord for it.”
Sometimes I catch myself in my head too much, trying to discern what is from the Lord and what is not. It’s still something I am growing in.
Let me tell you, our God is unpredictable.
And I love it when He shows up.
Man, he’s wild.
One morning Shelby, Madison and myself decided to go on a prayer walk. Prayer walks are such a sweet time with the Lord. You’re basically saying, “ok God you do you,” and you gotta be willing to go with it because you never know what He’s gonna do.
That morning I was talking to Val and asking her some more phrases and words in Spanish. Out of nowhere she said, “Laurie. Dios sana, that means God heals.”
Ok that’s good to know.
Before the prayer walk we decided to pray. We specifically prayed for the Lord to give us an image of something or someone or a word , or to show us something He wants to highlight to us.
After we prayed , Madison said she saw an old lady, I said I saw an older lady wearing blue, and Shelby saw the color blue.
chills.
So we began to walk.
Not even 2 minutes into our walk, ahead of us we see someone with their back turned to us.
As we get closer we realize it is an older women.
And she is wearing blue.
I began to attempt to speak Spanish with faith that the Holy Spirit would intercede for me.
I’ve struggled with the langue barrier since being in South America. This girl didn’t realize she had such a thick accent until she tried to speak another language. And the people have a hard time even understanding my English. So needless to say the enemy was trying to use my accent as an insecurity to keep me silent.
Ha.
Nice try dude.
When I was praying earlier before going on the prayer walk the Lord highlighted the older lady in blue to me. During this prayer, I also heard healing . I knew we would pray for her but I asked the Lord, “ok Lord, how will I be able to say everything I want to , to her.” He replied , “there will be someone there younger to help translate for you.” But this whole time I was looking for a younger woman about my age.
Without hesitation we began to speak to this lady. Her name is Margaret. She was selling fruit. I asked her if she went to church. She said “si, catholic.” I asked her if she knew Jesus and she looked at me and smiled and said “si.”
I asked if she had any pain and she pointed to her shoulders and all over but mainly kept rubbing her back.
So we asked if we could pray for her back and she said we could.
We prayed.
Afterwards she said she had little pain.
So we prayed again.
This time she was crying.
You could feel the Holy spirit’s presence ever so strong right there on the street.
Afterwards she said she had even less pain.
During the whole time we’re praying I kept saying “Dios sana,” which means God heals. It made perfect sense why Val randomly told me that earlier that morning.
God was already linning this up.
After we finished praying, out of nowhere a young man comes and gives her hug.
The first thing I spit out was “do you speak English?”
He said “yes.”
Ok God – this is the young person you said you would bring to us to help translate.
His name is “M.” He is 20 years old. He is friends with Margaret. I asked him to translate a few things for us- we wanted Margaret to know that the Lord specifically highlighted her to us.
She just kept smiling.
I began to talk to “M” more.
I told him we are missionaries. Told him about the worldrace. And invited him to church. “M” said I do not believe in God but I am open to a relationship.
Now you may have only heard , I do not believe in God BUT when I heard that I thought man HS (Holy Spirit) you already working in this guy’s heart. You know why- because he is open.
It first starts with having an open heart.
This whole time I am thinking about the lady in blue , who the Lord definitely wanted us to meet but ALSO he was ever so perfectly planning a divine moment to meet “M.”
Wow God you are something else.
You know what else?
“M” came to church that Sunday.
He hadn’t been to church in 8 years.
We prayed for him and Mads shared the gospel with him.
I haven’t seen him since and didn’t get to say bye to him, but I know the Lord isn’t done with him.
The Lord doesn’t need me to help save him.
He can do this all on His on.
I am just a mere vessel for Him.
What did I learn from this?
Never doubt the images that God gives you.
Why would I randomly think of a an older lady in blue?
I feel like God is up there looking down at me sometimes thinking , “Laurie you just need to trust me more.”
In that moment I did. We did. And not only did we get to pray healing over someone but we also planted a seed in a young man’s life.
God can and will do big things.
We just have to be willing.
Willing to go on more walks with Him.
Willing to say, “ok God, you do you and I’ll follow.”
