Where’s Laurie?
I haven’t been able to come across much Internet here, but I have written a couple of blog in the mean time so when I get Wi-Fi lucky for your free time you can read my blogs J.
So where’s Laurie?
I am in South Africa! (Steenburg). I love it here, it’s so beautiful- you can have pine trees and palm trees and you have the beach right next to the mountains.
We are living with 2 other teams in a house. 9 boys and 9 girls in total! It’s a little hectic at some points, but I am enjoying having so many people because there is always something to do! These teams are working well together!
My host family is great! We all live in one home together, and it takes a special kind of person who willingly sign up to have 18 people in their house.
We celebrated Christmas here, which was a little hard not being with my family for the first time EVER! But I got to call them and wish them a Merry Christmas, which was nice! I still miss all the amazing cooking that my family does. We did have a 5-course meal after church, which was SO MUCH FOOD!
But there isn’t any snow here in South Africa, it’s their summer time, so it’s actually getting hotter day by day.
We have been able to do two different types of ministry with younger kids, which has been really fun, they are on summer break now, but when school picks back up then we will be after school programs as well.
Soon the boys are leaving to go to Lesotho for a month so it will be 9 girls in the house. First time living with all girls on the race, but I am so excited because these girls are awesome I am getting along with them well.
I have made a “New Years Resolution”… kinda. For the New year I plan on doing a 3 day fast from food. It was going to be longer, but due to Adventures in Missions rules I can only do 3 consecutive days in a month. I am nervous but I am excited to see what the lord has in store for me.
