We have started our newest ministry this past week, and we have been hanging out with kids in a rec area. It is similar to the program that we did the week before Christmas.

This time it’s Harder.

These kids are 5-13 years olds, they play games, they take selfies, and they fight. Fight. Fight. Fight. Though out the day it’s peeling kids off of each other (and getting punched in the mean time) over and over again. Trying to talk to them in the meantime and finding out two new kids are fighting.

It’s Exhausting.

We come home at 3 pm and all we want to do is lay down and decompress. It’s hard because you start to think in that fighting mindset. After awhile when they aren’t listening you just want to scream. They are starting to get even more comfortable with us, so they don’t even listen to us anymore….

It’s been 3 days.

I am praying for strength, but ultimately it’s not about me. This is another area that is influenced by gangs, and their mission is to keep them off the streets and in a place where they can be occupied. I am sad thinking about their home life. It can’t be healthy. Seeing CHILDREN fighting is just unnerving.

We need Prayer & Patience.

All the guys from our teams are gone, so being a team of girls we aren’t taken seriously. That’s reality. We are trying our hardest, but we need to focus on the main reason for trying to manage 70 kids (and counting by each day) and that is to love these children and teach them about Jesus. Because God is good, and he desperately wants these children to know him just as much as anymore.

God is Good
