A couple people have asked me to post my support letter here so that it was easily accessible and a realized I haven’t put it anywhere publicly SO here it is :::

Hi!

I hope you’re doing well and that this summer is off to a great start for you! As I write to you, I sit in my home, a newly graduated high school student. The past few months have been busy and tiring and took more faith than I thought school could ever require.

Two summers ago, I spent a month in South Africa on a missions trip with Mk2Mk, a Cru ministry for missionary kids around the world. We were welcomed with open arms and hearts by the people of South Africa and that summer, for the first time, my faith became my own. Last summer, I had another chance to serve with Mk2Mk through a month in Albania. Those 6 weeks deepened my faith and my desire to know the Lord more than I could have ever imagined. Men, women, and children who had never met us rushed to welcome us. They loved us, cared for us, and brought more joy to anything and everything (like 7 am bus rides) than I even knew was possible.

These moments were bits of heaven on earth, ones I never want to forget. The Lord has sparked a love for His people in me that I cannot deny. I want to bring that same welcome that I have been shown to those who feel welcomed nowhere. I want to show people the love of the Lord that gives me life. To show them that we don’t even care if you deserve this, none of us deserve this. Regardless, you are WELCOME here and there is so much FREEDOM to be found in Christ.

With that being said, The World Race has been laid on my heart. The World Race with Adventures in Missions is a nine month, four country missions trip that sends young people into some of the darkest part of the world with some really good news. I’ll be with a team of 55 people, separated into smaller teams of 8, called squads. With my squad, I’ll be traveling to Guatemala, Swaziland, Thailand, and Malaysia, spending a little over two months in each country where we will be staying in host homes of fellow believers. On the race, my team and I will serve  in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities in different ways everyday to preach the Gospel. It could be teaching in local schools, prostitute outreach, HIV education, and more.

With that, I want you to join my team as I work toward raising $15,800. This number can seem daunting but with the combination of a faithful God and radical believers around me, I know have nothing to fear. I also ask for your prayers. You can be praying for discernment, wisdom, courage, and trust through the many challenges that the race will bring. As I take this large  step of faith in trusting the Lord, would you prayerfully consider joining me?

I am beyond excited to go across the world and grow in my own faith as well as proclaim the freedom and love that the Lord has showered upon me and serve the people that He has placed on my heart.

With love,

        L
