I’ve made it to my first ministry spot – Paris! Why Paris, you ask? I know what you’re thinking – Paris is the city of love, the home of Channel and Givenchy, where luxury is found. But every day 50- 100 refugees fleeing from North Africa and the Middle East are arriving in Paris.

My team and I are staying blocks from Porte de la Chapelle, which is the epicenter for the refugee crisis here in France. A temporary structure has been built to house refugees, but the capacity is only 400 people so the surrounding area is filled with people on the streets who have nowhere to go. The number of refugees in Paris has increased because the French government dismantled the largest refugee gathering called the ‘Jungle’ in northern France because the conditions got too horrific. La Chapelle is the focus of the remaining volunteer groups, as many of the people don’t eat unless something is given to them. There are also so many unaccompanied children who are at high risk and left to roam. Fights break out at La Chapelle when the police aren’t there and there is added fear. Please pray for these people and for our ministry to them.

As of now, my team is focusing ministry on hearing the stories of the hurting community of La Chapelle. Many of the people have never told their story and being heard and known can launch them into the healing process. Through knowing them we can give a glimpse of how God loves them and longs for them in His family. My team doesn’t currently have anything to physically give the refugees, but are hoping to have a fundraising campaign to provide them with blankets, food, or sanitary items. I’ll keep you updated on our ministry as we go. Thank you for your partnership!

Prayer Requests:

  1. My team has housing for the first week here, but after August 15th we have nowhere to stay. Please pray that the Lord will provide somewhere for us to sleep and that we won’t feel guilty finding a place when there are so many refugees who have nothing and no home.
  2. Please pray for my boldness as we start ministry this month.

Praises:

  1. Fundraising has become a fun process and the Lord blessed me more than I imagined.
  2. My team and I are safe in Paris and now energized to start ministry.
