I recently came across this article titled “15 reasons I think you should blog.”

Blogging is an interesting thing. You put yourself out there on the internet… your words, your thoughts, with no idea who is reading on the other end.

I really just want you, the reader, to better understand my heart behind this blog and why I do it, which goes far beyond because it was simply set up for me and we are encouraged to document what God is doing in our lives during the preparation for the World Race and so you can keep up with me while we are out on the field. It’s so much more than that.

So back to the article….

Out of all the points one really stuck out to me… “You’ll inspire others”… I mean that is always my hope. But that’s not what resonated with me. It went on to say that on many levels it is an act of giving. It is an act of service to invest your time, energy, and worldview into a piece of writing and then offer it for free to anybody who wants to read it. Others can find inspiration in your writings, and that’s a wonderful thing.

This blog I feel in many ways will help me live more intentionally as I live life out on the mission field. You will be thinking more intentionally about who you are, who you are becoming and whether you like what you see or not. Essentially I want to be the best version of myself for you, the reader, as I try to adequately and in the best way I know how share daily life on the mission field and what God is doing in my heart as I strive to be the hands and feet as I walk through this season. Stripping myself of all that I am to take hold of all that he is calling me to be. My hope is that through this blog and through my words over the 11 months as you keep up with the journey, even now as I prepare, that you see my heart in it all, no pretense, just raw and genuine pure heart.

I love to write, I want to become a better writer through this whole process of blogging this journey. Writing is a form of communication. It’s about recording thoughts on paper, or in this case, a screen, ha, and expressing yourself and giving people a glimpse into who you are, how you think, how you process, etc…There I’m sure will be moments where I feel I have nothing to say, but oh, there’s always something to say, you just haven’t maybe yet discovered it.

Blogging allows me to say to the world “Hey, I’m Lauren, let me introduce myself…” and with each word you are able to articulate the life you live and the heart behind the decisions you make, your passions and what makes your heart beat. It gives people a glimpse into your DNA, and what makes me Lauren. And as you show more and more of yourself you will find there’s a world that resonates and enjoys hearing your story.

And my story has only just begun….
