Since I wrote last our team relocated to the beautiful mountains of Costa Rica for the rest of this month working with our host Edgar on a farm with a beautiful garden.
This property is a teaching ground to help locals then go back and grow their own garden to feed their families. It truly has been a dream ministry.
And who doesn’t enjoy living in a shed for the month?? Extra points if you can find me… Ha! ๐
I’ve stayed in A LOT of places over these last months. Some have been amazing and some not so much. But I would take this any day over an Airbnb with an infinity pool (yes, Malaysia, you were good to us) because this is where the lifetime memories and laughs are truly made.
I now hope to one day grow a garden of my own. I didn’t realize how much I loved it.
Can you tell???
Everything in this beautiful salad is straight from the garden and organic!
The food has been amazing this month and to be able to go and pick everything ourselves and know where it’s coming from….
It’s been so fun learning all the ins and outs and getting our hands dirty.
We worked some in the greenhouse and did a lot of weeding. 20 year old Lauren would not have found the joy in this but almost 35 year old Lauren has loved every minute of it; or maybe I’m showing my age ha ๐
I’m learning so much along the way. Like I said, a lot of weeding I did. The purpose of weeding is to get down to the root and make sure you get it all so it doesn’t grow back.
So much of my life has been spent on the hamster wheel spinning and spinning, fighting my battles and wondering why nothing ever changed. I wasn’t getting to the ROOT of the problem. I have spent so much time in my past weeding and weeding and getting frustrated because I never got anywhere and I never saw the change I so desired. I was afraid to dig deep and scared of what I would find, scared to get my hands dirty.
Not any more.
It’s in the dirt where you find the treasure. The treasure of life lived in complete freedom. It’s freedom from your past, old mindsets, and the lies you’ve listened to for so long
I don’t know about you but that’s the best kind of treasure to find. It doesn’t come without getting your hands dirty and taking that shovel and digging with all your might. You have to get the junk that’s buried and get it out of there. Find that root, toss it, and don’t ever look back.
Lots of lessons from the garden and yep, sorryyyyy Edgar…
still don’t like carrots, never have and never will ๐
We are winding down on month 8 and heading to Panama on Tuesday. Time is not slowing down! We already have our plane tickets back to the states booked and return home will be here before I know it! Soaking these last months in.
Much love to you ALL!!
