I just wanted to take the time to jot down some thoughts and what I’ve learned during the fundraising process this far so I can look back on. And who knows, maybe long after I’ve returned from the race a future World Racer might come across this blog and realize they too will survive the fundraising.
Here’s the thing, when I committed to this missions trip and signed on the dotted line I knew what I was getting into as the $18,200 was starring at me like a big neon sign saying ABORT ABORT ABORT!! LOL. Just kidding.
Kind of 😉
All the while I’m thinking “Are you crazy, Lauren?” and pretty much answering back at myself “Why yes, yes you are.” ha.
CRAZY FOR JESUS. And crazy enough to put him to the test.
In the bible Philippians 4:19 says. “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Well, God, let’s see you do your thing, have at it….
And with each dollar that has come in, he has been proving this to be true time and time again. Guys, if you come to this blog and are reading this, you will see currently $6,186 that has been raised so far…. It brings tears to my eyes because when I started the number was ZERO. With each donation that comes in, it’s like Christmas morning and I feel so incredibly blessed for the support.
This fundraising thing friends…
Daunting
Exhausting
Humbling
Rewarding
Scary
Faith Building
Exciting
All of the above and so so much more. It causes you to come to a place of vulnerability that you never knew existed. Asking people to open up their wallets and to share the desires and path that God has placed inside your heart. And just hoping with all hope that your vision will become their vision and that something inside them will say, “I can’t go, but let me help send you.”
When people partner behind me it then makes it not just about me, but about them too. As they follow my journey, they then can see all God is doing and know they had a part in it.
I am so excited for people to follow this journey with me. Whether it be through prayers, financially, or reading this blog and staying updated on the ways God is moving pre-trip and here just mere months away, while on the trip.
When we feel God is calling us to something, there are mountains we have to climb. This is a big one and feels like EVEREST if I’m being completely honest!
But by his grace I will conquer till I am fully funded!
Buckle up people. We have a ways to go to $18,200. But look how far I’ve come.
