hello friends!
I’ve been living in the middle-of-nowhere Ethiopia for over a month now, waking up here already feels normal, and it all feels like home — so I guess that means it’s time I let you in on what it is I’m doing here!!
The organization I work for is called HOPEthiopia. A sweet and spirit filled couple from Canada began this ministry. The main focus is serving orphans. As Ralph told the President here when proposing the plans for his organization – he believes the best asset and resource in Ethiopia is the 4 million orphans. In those 4 million are doctors, leaders, teachers, preachers, and inventors. All they need is love. It’s scientifically proven that if you daily compliment and say nice things to a plant it helps it grow!! How much MORE of an impact do you think speaking life over a HUMAN makes?! Ralph and Glenda encourage the children here to dream big and they come alongside of them and love them and walk them into opportunity. The kids here have no concept of being an orphan – nor would they consider themselves that anymore anyway. They live in what we call the “children’s village” which is a community of 6 houses full of kiddos and each having their own house mom! They are surrounded by the gospel here through teachings and through love. We stay in a guesthouse just a couple hundred yards away from them & get to play with them and love on them daily. Aside from the children – Ralph and Glenda have vision to breathe life into this nation in many other ways. We are stepping into this vision by helping with their reforestation project, gardening projects, and helping take care of the property we live on by cutting a lot of grass (by hand!) and varnishing and painting a lot of buildings.
