Month 2: Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia
I haven’t posted a lot about this month, but for a good reason: I was too busy living my best life! God blessed us with letting us stay in a beautiful town, full of backpackers from ALL over the world, ferry rides, delicious food, the quirkiest coffee shops, palm trees, beaches, cool street art, and sunshine. He allowed me to have so much time for ministry: helping open up a thrift shop (where the $ will help those in need), worshipping at PenHOP, and street outreach; and so much time for myself and the team: renting an AirBnB for the weekend, hanging out at the beach, reading 3 books, working out on the rooftop, listening to live music on Saturday nights, journaling PAGES full of conversations with God about my dreams, worries, and what He is saying to me, and getting work done while exploring these awesome coffee shops.
Here is a glimpse into my time in Malaysia:
Debrief in Kuala Lumpur
First, we spend 5 days debriefing our time in Indonesia… which meant time with the entire squad, our coaches, and squad mentor!
C-Squad took over Illuminate Boutique Hostel π (can you spot me??)
The cutest space for our worship time π (…. can you spot me?! :P)
Georgetown in Penang, Malaysia!
The coolest little town… home to backpackers traveling all across Southeast Asia… so you know it’s going to be an awesome place!
We stayed at YWAM (Youth With a Mission) Penang
View from my bed π (Shauny said it looked like I was in prison hahahah)
Roof top views!!
Ministry
Home 2 Home Thrift Shop
Our ministry: we took the ferry each day to the mainland to help open a thrift shop. It officially opened on February 28! The $ will benefit children in need in the community (due to safety reasons, I cannot share exactly where the $ is going on public websites)
Worship at PenHOP
We spent Tuesdays and Friday evenings at Penang House of Prayer… where basically we journaled, read our Bibles, and worshipped the Lord for hours! First, I was nervous about it being such a long time but actually it was such a necessary and amazing time. I journaled a lot, as God revealed so much to me during these times. I have never felt so close to Him! I encourage you guys to check out a House of Prayer near you!
They had a huge world map on one of the walls… sometimes I took time to pray over my family and the cities they currently live in. Thank you, Raquel, for capturing this moment π
We also did street outreach on Wednesday nights, where we asked God where to go and showed love to those we encountered. I do not have photos from these nights.
We rented an AirBnb for the weekend!
I found a kettlebell!!!

-Relaxing at the beach
-Being able to FaceTime my parents, siblings, and nephews AT THE SAME TIME
-Going to the mall and getting cute, cheap, new clothes at Uniqlo

I could go on and on and ON about this amazing city… I fell in love with the place and the people. It’s going to be hard saying goodbye tomorrow, but I know God has so much in store for us in THAILAND!
