The thought process of a World Racer (Pre-race)
You prayed, you got guidance, confirmation came & you applied for the World Race.
Wooohooo!!
Then, it hits you…YOU’RE LEAVING THE COUNTRY. Whoa. You can’t bring your pretty Disney travel bags for this trip….You can’t bring all your day to night makeup. Oh, and don’t get me started on not bringing an entire bag of shoes for 11 months.
You just signed up to voluntarily live without more than the necessities.
It hits you a second time, this is small compared to the amount of your mission trip cost that you see…
$16,562.00
Ummm, that’s the price of a car. Just saying…
Now your nerves are starting to settle in, can I really do this? Can I raise $16,562? Your boldness turns into shyness. You become fearful to ask for donations. You know you will receive multiple reactions to not only your trip but towards raising funds. Can you handle rejection from the ones that disagree?
Do you have what it takes now that you are this far?
You are now on the faith walking portion of this mission trip.
You have a choice:
1) Step out of the boat & TRUST that God has called you on this mission
2) Not put forth the effort & allow fear of other people hold you back
I’m going to tell you the choice you should make. You have to step out of the boat & walk on some water.
Put on the spirit of boldness. PRAY for the spirit of boldness. This is something God offers us, fear only comes from 1 place. Boldness is yours for the taking.
To answer your question, nope I’m not fully funded. I’m not even halfway funded yet. This is coming from someone who is in the same boat as you. I have & sometimes still do, have these fears stare me down about fundraising.
But this is what I remember
- I AM called on this mission trip
- I will put forth the effort that God has asked of me
- I will have faith that as I put forth the effort, it allows God’s hands to move on my behalf
Sometimes God requires us to step out of the boat. Fundraising is transparent. You are openly asking for funds for a mission trip. And let’s be honest, people get funny about money. That’s okay. You have to know where you stand in God. Step out, and let your fear/embarrassment fall off of you.
God will speak to people to donate towards your trip. He will also ask you STEP OUT that means He’s asking that you do your part. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you all the way down to who you should be asking. He will guide you & you will see God work. Hey, and if you don’t meet your funds…guess what? God cares enough about you to slam a door closed. God doesn’t tease with doors. You have to keep stepping forward until God continues with confirmation or a door closing. He’s good like that. He cares enough about your life to guide you. So let’s trust in Him & see where God takes our lives.
