Fellow Racer Daina Norusis wrote this blog about our adventures in Ho Chi Minh yesterday…

I’m obsessed with my guitar.  I don’t know when it happened but someone
flipped that switch from wanting to learn to wanting to worship and
since then, I’m obsessed.  Unfortunately, I tend to want to be alone,
something that’s not easy to come by on the Race.  Today, I figured out
the perfect solution: the park.  I grabbed my guitar and set on out.

I decided to call Lauren,
you know, for company.  The two of us head out when I get this amazing
idea, “Hey, wouldn’t it be awesome if I got one of those Asian hats and
then just sat under the tree playing my guitar?”  Oh yea!  We head
towards the park, keeping our eyes peeled for a hat.  We decide to stop
for snacks at the bakery before beginning our adventure.  While there,
Lauren realizes how much more amazing this whole day would be if she
had her paints.  “Let’s go get them,” I say.  So we do.  And on the way
back we buy my hat.

And then it all begins.

I never thought worship in a park in an Asian hat could be so freeing.
I simply sat there, playing my guitar, as Lauren painted alongside me.
Two different styles yet one goal in mind--worship
From time to time I would stop playing, she would stop painting, and we
would engage in deep, meaningful, thought-provoking conversations.
Occasionally a person would stop by and engage in conversation with
us.  In one case, we even got to talk about God creating us all in His
image and how He’s in control.

By most, our time in the park would be
considered nothing special.  What made it special though was the
fellowship and worship that occurred.  Nothing fancy, nothing expensive; just a guitar, some paint, and an Asian hat in a park–that’s how we worship our God
.

And our day ended with fro-yo!  How amazing is that?!
