I’m currently riding in the small cab of a pick up truck driving through Thailand. My host family and teammate Rachel are next to me and the back is filled with 4 of my teammates, our squad leader, Maggie, her big pack and all our day packs. We left at 3 AM and are driving 5.5 hours to Ubon Ratchathani, and from the above description above, I’m sure you can tell that this is not the most comfortable position. But as I sit leaning against the window with two little girls laughing beside me and the morning Thai wind blowing through the truck, I can’t help but be thankful.
Thanksgiving is in two days and it’s the first holiday I’ll ever be away from family and friends. It’s a weird feeling, but at the same time I have so much to be thankful for this year- and none of it would be possible without any of you.
Thank you to anyone who has ever read one of my blogs. Thank you to anyone who has prayed for me. Thank you to anyone who has ever donated. Thank you for joining me on this adventure, because that’s what you did. You didn’t just read my thoughts, or take time to pray, or give me money. You are right here with me.
As I spent time in a village in Kampong Cham, Cambodia, you were right there singing songs to those kids. As I walked in temples praying for the strongholds that Buddhism has in the countries, you were walking with me proclaiming truth. As I planned travel and debrief for my squad, you were sitting next to me encouraging me. As I taught English to Cambodian and Thai students, you were at the chalk board writing out the ABC’s with me. As my team harvests rice in the Chaiyaphum, Thailand rice fields, you’re in that water with us wearing the silly pink shirts and blue socks. Every conversation, every interaction, every gesture- you made this possible.
The Lord called me out to go on this journey and I listened. And you are doing the same thing every time you support me, you’re answering His call to support the great commission. I pray for all of you every day and words can’t express how GRATEFUL I am. You have helped equip me in this.
I am still about $3,000 away from my final deadline on January 31. If you feel called at all to help me stay on the field, you can reach out to me. You can donate by clicking the “support me” tab. Thank you all for every thing you are. I am thankful beyond belief.
“Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.” Psalm 107:8-9
