Traveling to the other side of the world with 60 other people is quite a process, a lengthy, exhausting process. Here's a recap of what our travel days looked like to get us from Haiti to Thailand.
Day One
9am – Left the house where we were having debrief in Port au Prince. We crammed all our packs and squad in one school bus and three pick up trucks.
9:30am – Successfully beat car sickness and arrived at the bus station. We are told the bus should arrive by 11:30am.
2:30pm – Bus finally arrives. We are off!
11:00pm – Arrive at the airport in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. To our enjoyment we found out that the bridge that we thought was out was fixed! A little scary to cross in a huge bus, but we safely made it!
Day Two
4:00am – Finally able to check our bags and go through security
6:00am – Board the plane only to be delayed because there is something that needs fixed. Tired crazy prayers going up so that we are able to take off and not miss our next flight.
7:00am- Finally take off!
9:30am – Arrive in Miami! Hurry through immigration, sprint through the airport, and barely make it to our gate.
10:30am EST – Take off to Los Angeles!
1:00pm PST – Arrive! Go crazy on American soil for our 12 hour layover. American food!
Day Three
1:00am PST – Take off to Hong Kong! 14.5 hour flight!
6:45am JST – Arrive in Hong Kong. Scope out the airport for some coffee!
9:00am JST – Take off on next flight to Bangkok!
11:00am Indochina Time – Arrive in Bangkok, Thailand! Go through immigration and drink some bubble tea while waiting to head to the bus station.
3:00pm – Head to bus station. Camp out there for a few hours. Grab some dinner at KFC and pay 5 baht to use a bathroom with no toilet paper in it.
8:00pm – Bus leaves for Chiang Mai, Thailand! Gotta love 10 hour bus rides where the seats recline all the way back!
Day Four
6:00am – Arrive in Chiang Mai, load up in some songthaews and head to where we are living for the month!!
This month we have the awesome opportunity to serve with Lighthouse in Action. My team and one other team are working with the Love Acts portion of the ministry. Some of us head to the slums to love on kids during the day and some head to the bars at night to minister to the men who are there to buy the women, the women who are trapped in prostitution, and the ladyboys who are men who believe they are women.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. Please check out this video to get a better glimpse of what our ministry looks like this month!
