Helloooooooo!!!!
So, ya know how I am sorta kinda maybe definitely leaving for this little itsy bitsy trip in oh, I don’t know…say….60 days? Have you realized that I am spending months and months to raise $15,500? And ya know how I am going to be living in a tent on the ground in the middle of nowhere, Africa and hiking around, living out of a backpack for the next year of my life? Yeahhhhhh……about that. (Keep following me.)
Since, I have been on short term missions trips before I know a little bit about what I am fixing to walk, fly, ride a train or elephant into..just a smidgen of a bit.
1. No hot showers. I’m lucky if I get to shower once a week, and it will more than likely be freezing cold.
2. Always hair on my legs! (Ughhhh! One of my biggest pet peeves ever!)
3. Hello, hand washing clothes! (Do people still do that?…yes.)
4. Bottled water and hand sanitizer will be my best friends.
5. Never take eyes off of cameras, passport, money bag…or else.
6. Snakes, lizards, and lions OH MY!
7. Buddy system…always.
8. Can we stop at a bathroom?……Um…..that’s a bush.
9. Dust in my eyes. Dust in my hair. Dust, dust, everywhere!
10. Bumpy road. Traffic. Scary life-threatening traffic. Hanging over a cliff-kind of traffic. There are no speeding laws- kind of traffic. Pray to God every single second of the ride- kind of traffic.
11. What in the world are they saying!!!? Why can’t I speak all 6,700 languages of this world?
12. Goodbye family, friends, home, nice comfy bed with a temperpedic mattress, cell phone, hair dryer, makeup, big ward robe, car, television, Christmas and birthday presents, and more.
13. Worst enemy= mosquitoes. (I once had 28 bites from a 3 week trip, plus I was sunburned.)
14. Comfort zone? What in the world is that? (Yes, public speaking is the death of me but it’s a must.)
15. Sleep deprivation. It will probably be like having 11 months of summer camp. No sleeping in. =(

DO YOU THINK I AM CRAZY YET?…………….. Because I do.
BUT I’M NOT COMPLAINING BECAUSE I’M ABOUT TO HAVE THE BEST YEAR OF MY LIFE, SURRENDERING MYSELF TO CHRIST AND LIVING EVERYDAY WITH ONLY WHAT I NEED, AND GIVING THE REST TO OTHERS TO SHOW THEM GOD’S LOVE! BEING USED BY GOD IS THE HUGEST BLESSING YOU CAN POSSIBLY RECEIVE….AND HE WANTS TO AND CAN USE YOU TOO….IF YOU WILL LET HIM.
Sure, I could stay back and enjoy my American life, get into grad school or medical school, or perhaps get a job to make money and help others here. Normally, there wouldn’t be anything wrong with that. But, I feel a deeper calling on my life, a calling that says “Get out and do something crazy for God. He did something crazy for you!” The God of the entire universe brought himself down to earth as a human, sacrificing himself, so that we could be free! I AM FREE! DID YOU HEAR ME!? I AM FREE!!!!!!!!!! Praise Jesus, we are free if we have a relationship with Him!…..Sadly, there are millions of people bound up by sin and the devil, dying and going to a REAL place called HELL! These people are desperate for the truth. I have the truth. The truth has changed me. The truth has given me eternal life. The truth has brought me joy. The truth has taught me forgiveness. It has shown me what love really means. It. Has. Set. Me. Free.
I run in the path of Your commands, for you have set my heart free.

I refuse to sit in my comfort and keep the truth to myself. I am called to go. I GO.

If you don’t have a missionary to support through prayer and finances, then pick me, pick me! Haha! =) On my home page, you can find a “Support Me” link on the left hand side. I need prayer that everything will come together with my finances, that certain family members will be at peace about me leaving, for my medical school plans to come together, and for a deeper and stronger connection with the Holy Spirit so that I will be very tuned in to His voice, and will know what to do and what to say on the mission field.
Or…maybe you could….GO! Crazy thought, I know.
