It was brought to my attention (thank you, Carrie, wink, wink) that some of you might be curious as to what I’ve been eating during my time in Africa.

So, without further adue…my menu in Africa has consisted of:

Tilapea caught fresh from Lake Victoria, accompanied by Ugali (which is a corn-based, bread-like substance that takes on whatever flavor (and shape) is paired with it. It sits EXTREMELY heavy in one’s stomach. I’m also convinced it could be used for morter on a house)
my face explains my feelings toward the dish

fruits & veggies

Chapatti:: this was a team favorite! I overdosed on it though and can no longer eat it.

Sugar cane, which was usually given to us in one long pole, for a gift (we may have played “props” with the stalks of sugar cane instead of eating it, just saying)

Beans…of ALL kinds (usually paired with rice)

PINEAPPLE…may be my favorite, but I don’t know why you could think that 😉

my two favorite treats from the store…pineapple fanta & date bars

Kristen & I enjoying some roasted maize–they cook it on a grill, over hot coals–it tastes like popcorn, kind of

Sorry to all my vegetarian friends…believe me, I was NOT happy to find out I ate this little guy either. If you had a picture of my face when I found out, I’m sure it was priceless. Needless to say, I didn’t eat much meat in Africa after that…

And there you have it. A few things in my diet during my time in Africa. Carbs, carbs, and a side of carbs. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to a treadmill and Jazzercise when I come home.
