I have discovered I really enjoy sitting under trees. Go ahead, you can laugh. But, to be in the shade of an Acacia (that’s the typical African tree you think of when you think of Africa, or watch the Lion King), just to cool off from the day’s heat is so awesome. My team and I often find ourselves meeting under trees, rather than in a building and I love it. And as I sit, I think, “I’m pretty sure this is what God intended trees to be used for, to sit under and be protected.”

Our first day meeting with our contact, Pastor Elisha and his wife, Emmy in Kisumu, Kenya was done under a tree. We were each given a cold coca-cola and we talked about what God had laid on our hearts for this month. “You are not here to work, you are here to share God’s love,” Pastor Elisha told us.

Somewhere between taking the first sip of coca-cola and in the middle of our conversation, I thanked God for this time. It was truly a gift–a blessing. To be sitting in the midst of the Lord’s will, asking Him what’s next, is pretty amazing. I’ve really enjoyed this slower pace of life and not being in a hurry. That was something the Lord pointed out to me…just slow down, Lauren. Enjoy life, don’t rush it away. The Pastor even told us that as the sun sets, it’s God’s way of telling us to slow down. I like that. And I’m learning to do just that–slow down. Take time to sit under a tree. Hopefully you can find your tree to sit under today! Stop and enjoy God’s blessings in your life today!

Love & Blessings!
