I have now been home for six months from my World Race (crazy!). But, that’s not really what this blog is about. It is a reflection blog yes, but not really a reflection on these past six months, but more so on the past week.
Last week I was a trainer for our World Race training camp. I’ll explain what that means in a minute. I specifically worked with “Y” squad, along with their Squad leader, Sarah Shrack and three other trainers. (Lucas Tillman will also be squad-leading, but he JUST got back to the states, from his WR several days ago, and therefore he was not able to be at training camp with us.) Being a trainer was an awesome, exhausting and an all-around incredible experience for me. I got to spend ten days with 50-some, 21-35 year olds who are all preparing to head out on the World Race in August.
As a trainer I spent time getting to know the squad. I got to know some individuals through one-on-ones and the group as a whole through our different daily activities. I also helped with team formations, listened to people’s hearts, and was even a shoulder to cry on at times. Perhaps one of the biggest blessings was to simply celebrate God’s goodness in each one of our lives together!
The squad spent the week getting to know each other through different adventures; from things like team building activities, to roughing it at camp sites and many things in between. We worshipped together, cried together and had FUN together, aka dance parties. My heart quickly melted for these people.

So you could say I’m now attached to these people and secretly hope to squeeze into one of their backpacks to go with them on their World Race. They are an AMAZING group of men and women with a tremendous passion for the Lord! Spending time with them was so refreshing for me. I loved the divine appointments the Lord had arranged for me that week–I got to meet some pretty amazing women of God and have wonderful conversations with them. The Y-Squad left a mark on my life, that seems to be permanent. I’m so excited for them to be going on the Race. I know they too will discover more about themselves, as they continue to become the men & women God intended them to be…
