Meet my eighth team member, Lynsey. (This blog is a little overdue, but, better late than never). As you know, I’m finishing up my sixth month on the Race. For our month in Kenya, we received an additional team member. The World Race decided to pioneer a program this month called, World Race Exposure. This program allows college students to “try-out” the World Race for one month during their summer break. It gives them a taste of the Race to see if it is something they would like to pursue after college. And so that brings me to our eighth team member, Lynsey Graeff, from a small town, about an hour outside of Philly, PA.
From the moment she joined our team we have loved her (and that’s not just because she brought us treats from home either, ie: Skittles, Twizzlers, & Sour Patch Kids…) we’d love her WITHOUT those treats. (insert HUGE grin here)
Lynsey will be heading into her senior year of college this fall. She has been a complete joy and God-send for our team this month. Lynsey has brought new perspective, as well as great wisdom to our team. Her joy and curiousity is contagious. She has inspired me and encouraged me. She makes friends wherever we go. She’s even taken a couple of semesters of Swahili in college, which has come in handy. Lynsey has a very tendor soul and such a compassion for all she meets. I’m so proud of her. She has touched my life and I thank God He put her in my life for this month–she has truly been a gift. Lynsey has known the Lord for two years now, and has such a drive and desire to know Him even more, with each passing day. I know the Lord is going to use her in mighty ways, and I’m excited to hear about them!
If you think about it, you can be in prayer for Lynsey. She will be heading back to the good ol’ U.S. of A. on July 3rd, after a short debrief in Nairobi, Kenya. I know she has seen a lot here in Kenya and has a lot to process through. I pray that the Lord eases her transition into life back home. I’m praying for a strong academic year for her as well, and that she also has continued sensitivity to the Lord’s calling on her life. You can also pray for my team, as we will be sad to see her go.
