The house we are living in this month is absolutely amazing. We have blessing upon blessing here. Our contact, Jeff Long, is so gracious and has provided us with well more than any of us need. But one of the best parts of living here are the little babies that live with us. From the children’s home a block a way, the little ones live here so they aren’t dominated by their many older siblings all of the time. A few staff members live here as well so they can take care of the precious bundles full time.

Since our team is living here for a month, we have decided to help out with the babies and give their caretakers some nights off so they can get rest. Sarah and I were up to bat last night.

To all the moms out there: I just don’t know how you do it night after night. Don’t get me wrong, the 3 babies are precious. Jacob and Daniel are 5-month-old twins with an amazing story of survival and 12-month-old Andrew has a grin that will make your heart melt. But, my gosh, these kids have some strong lungs… all night long. Sarah and I spent the bulk of the night feeding, burping, walking, and jostling (don’t worry, not too hard) the babies with the ultimate goal of sleep—for them and us. Unfortunately, the little tykes didn’t have that common goal.

Needless to say, I have never been so happy to see a Filipino woman walk into the bedroom this morning to take over duty for the day. Sarah and I trudged up the stairs to our beds to take a long nap. I can’t imagine doing this day in and day out without the opportunity for a 4-hour nap in the morning. Mom’s, you’re amazing (especially you, Mom.)
