Pine·ap·ple (noun) : A large juicy tropical fruit consisting of aromatic edible yellow flesh surrounded by a tough segmented skin and topped with a tuft of stiff leaves
How do you describe a group message filled with 24 amazing people, all just looking for an adventure and a chance to serve an amazing Lord? Kinda like a pineapple.
24 Jesus-loving people. All sweet, like the taste of a pineapple. Everyone loves each other and more importantly, everyone loves the Lord.
24 happy and excited kids. All bright, like the yellow coloring of a pineapple. Bright and joyful for the future. Ready to take on the world together, literally. Ready to see what the Lord brings and ready to dive into many adventures together.
24 protected and loved, daughters and sons of Christ. The skin on a pineapple is thicker and tougher than most fruits, it protects the part of the pineapple that everyone loves, just as the Lord is shielding each and every one of us. We have the best protection we could ask for, the strongest and toughest of them all.
24 spectacular humans. All so different, but all so alike. Did you know that no matter the color of a pineapple, they all taste EXACTLY the same. Sure, each one of us is different in our own ways, most of us love smelling candles, while it seems as if Lydia enjoys eating them. But really, we’re all the same on the inside… Sounds so cheesy, but hey sometimes the truth is silly! We all love the same Lord, we all have the same plans for the future (as of right now), and we’re all loved by the only amazing God.
But then again, there are definitely ways that we are nothing like a pineapple. I got like super involved in looking at facts about pineapples for this blog, and it led me to find that it takes a single pineapple 3 years to mature. While that may seem like a long time for a pineapple, 18 years have gone by we’re nowhere near maturity, ironic since we’re about to be across the world on our own.
Oh and another thing, once a pineapple is harvested, it can’t continue to ripen. But hey, the good news is that us 24 kiddos are able to grow closer to the Lord and to each other every single day.
I couldn’t be more excited to join the other 23 (& counting) wonderful people that help me make up our pineapple. I can’t wait to travel around with them, jump off of cliffs with them, get tattoos with them, drink lots of coffee with them, and love the Lord endlessly with each and every one of them.
On another, and completely separate, note, I’m starting my second fundraiser! If you’re interested in helping, you can pick a box (they’re numbered 1-100) and which ever box you chose is how much you donate towards my trip. If you decide to chose a box, just text, email, comment, or facebook message me to tell me which one you took, so I can cross it off! If I can give away all of the boxes, I will meet my first deadline goal!
Thanks bunches (for reading and/or donating)!
Sincerely,
Your fave pineapple & Jesus loving chick
