I love going to other countries and I used to be on a team called Petra. We all made a pact that Petra was going to go to Petra, Jordan as a team. Jordan was one of the most beautiful countries I’ve been to and Petra was the most amazing place that I have been to on the race. In all of the Middle East Jordan is the most peaceful. Petra is so breathtaking and it was the most amazing city to see how they lived and overcame difficulties with incredible ancient technologies. It was an ancient city built in stone and you would literally walk between mountains as you toured the city.
On our way there we got to see the Red Sea, and a little white fox. The Red Sea was amazing because I always pictured it being all filled with blood. There was coral reef there and all over the beach. I kept a bag of some coral but it ended up smelling like rotten fish so I had to throw it out.
Then after Israel we got to spend a day in Egypt in order to get a flight from Cairo. The bus there was very tiring. I knew I had to get enough sleep because there were pyramids in the morning. Every time I would wake up there were amazing mountains and sights to see. We finally got into Cairo early in the morning and were amazed by the busyness of the streets. We made it out to the great Giza pyramids. The whole experience was amazing. We also got to see the Sphynx. I got to lay were a mummy once laid, and see the inside of a tomb.
It was amazing to see how fully they believed in these Gods and the importance of the afterlife. It wasn’t what I expected. It was a dusty, arid city, and I felt like the only beauty was the pyramids. A whole beautiful city and culture was crudded over by cement and concrete blocks and storefronts. A whole ancient culture is now stuffed in a museum. The Sphynx is surrounded by stores and all you are is haggled and hassled. I am glad I can check it off my list that I have been there but it is not what you expected at all.
