After our month in Croatia we had a short stopover in Bulgaria. There was a bit of nervousness because we all knew that teams would change a little bit to account for the new squad leaders from our ranks. First we celebrated Halloween together as a squad. I was “Soul Fighter” our squad leaders gave us each a name to be creative with and I think I had the best one… just FYI. These kind of moments with our squad just remind me how much of a big family we all are. We had so much fun all night and great costumes (cough cough Grant, red thong). We even played party quirks for a while with many memorable characters.
The next day we had a great race day. We raced all around Sophia to find clues and make videos.
Then the next morning was what we were all kind of fearing and waiting for with a lot of unknowns. They announced the new teams. I found out that I was with: Katie West, Matt Patton, David Hepting, Danielle Contarino and Daina Noirusis. Then we had four hours of total silence to just deal with all our emotions with God. I was ok with the team change, I knew that I depended on our girls a lot and that instead of a lot of times just sharing my fruit with the Lord first I would share my fruit with the girls. I knew it would be tough without the girls, but also it might be an opportunity from God to grow even more.
As a new team we got together in a tunnel under the road joined in a circle and prayed about what God wanted our name to be. It was amazing how all of our images and visions and songs came together to show the idea of being all out, all in and radical. Someone thought of the song “Fanatic” by Lecrae and it really fit. We wanted to be a team that doesn’t care about the opinions and expectations of others but only those of God. We would rather be fools in the eyes of the world than in the eyes of God.
