So I am officially on the world race! We arrived in South Africa Monday evening after flying to NYC for a 14 hr layover then to Atlanta then straight to South Africa on a 15 hour flight! It was great travelling with everyone on my squad. A group of us decided to explore new York city through the night on Saturday instead of sleeping in the airport. Let me tell you, it was a wonderful experience! My flight to Johanasburg was a breeze. I slept most of the time other than when I was eating & watching 1 movie.
We are now in Johanasburg South Africa. My team is staying here at this missionary resort where they hold soccer camps for children. Unfortunantly, there are no soccer camps scheduled for the month of September so we will be doing other ministries here. We are to paint the facilities and also possibly work with churches in the area.
I am happy to be back in Africa for sure, though this experience so far is much different than my time in Kenya last year. We are at a base with running water and warm showers. We even have American toilets.
Some are saying they think God is easing us into the race by this being the first place we go. There are 4 of our groups staying here in Johanasburg for the month and the other 5 are going to different countries such as Zimbabwe, and Zambia. So, next month we will all be in South Africa again just at a different location than we are in now. Keep in mind things may change, they do a lot hence why I am in South Africa this month and not Zimbabwe or Botswana as we had planned.
God’s got this and I know he will lead us to exactly where he wants us to be over these next 11 months!
