We went to a clinic this morning to attend a prayer meeting from 7 to 7:30. Erin shared some scripture from Matthew 6 about how Jesus would like us to pray. One of the nurses translated to Siswati. She asked us to come back each morning Monday through Friday while we are here this month. They would like for one of us to speak each morning.
We went again to the clinic around 10:30 to visit and pray for the patients who are staying in the wards. When we first arrived we went in a room where a little boy was lying there conscious but without much movement. He had been bitten by a snake. It was sad seeing him in such pain. His mother and her baby were there with him.
Erin, Chelsea and I separated from the bigger group and went into two rooms without a translator. I insisted that we give it a try. We first went into a crippled man’s room. I am not sure what his sickness was but his body was obviously very crippled as I saw him lay there in his bed. I believe he understood a bit of my English as I spoke to him as his face beamed with a big smile. He was very happy to have us pray for him. Soon after praying his wife came into the room, not speaking any English. She told us that her name is Joyce. There was a mat on the floor that she sleeps on. We could tell that she loves him very much to not leave him alone there at the hospital. We then read a couple Psalms to them and got to pray with her also. It brought me great joy to meet them and to see the joy on that man’s face as we spent that short amount of time in his room.
Next I saw a lady lying in a bed not making any movement. I almost passed by her room before seeing her eyes glance at me. I knew just then that I was to enter the room and pray for her. I could tell that she was very ill as she lay there stiff in that hospital bed. I asked if we could pray for her and she quietly said yes without moving her head. My heart began to break as I pray for this lady who by the looks of it had no one there with her. When we had finished praying I asked what her sickness was and she said she is Anemic. Chelsea began to pray again for her condition. I told her good bye and I hope she feels better and reluctantly walked out of the room.
I am anticipating the next time that I can go and pray for more people at the hospital. I hope I am able to see the man or women I had visit or hear they have improved and gone home. I know the little boy who had been bit by a snake went home Friday, the day after seeing him in the clinic.
