Ministry Mission India: Love God’s Children.

This month my team is working with Covenant Christian Homes (CCH), which is an amazing organization where pastors in villages take in ten local orphans in the community and give them a roof over their head, a full belly every day, and a family that loves them. These pastors have kids of their own as well, so sometimes there is as many as 15 people living in one home. Tuesday through Sunday my team and I go to a different CCH home and help the kids with their homework and teach them English. We play lots of fun games and tell bible stories, worship together and pray together. We go to 5 all girl’s houses during the week and each Sunday we go to at an all boy’s CCH home. The kids range from 5 to 16 years old. All off these kids have lost one or both parents. It is absolutely amazing to see how the pastors and their families in each of the CCH homes take in these kids and love them like their own son or daughter, brother or sister. You can feel the love when you walk into a home and you can see the unity. They are a family.

The CCH ministry allows the kids to go to school and provides opportunities that they could have never even dreamed about. Each day I fall in love with each one of these kids. I see their innocence. I see the pain of their past and I see the hope of their future. Many of the CCH kids have been in the program for most of their life. Some of the kids have the opportunity to go to college and make their dreams of becoming a doctor, teacher, or a missionary come true. This ministry is doing such amazing things for these children and I am so blessed that I am able to be a part of it and love on these kids. The cool thing about kids is they are the same all around the world. They just want to play and sing and jump around and be silly. But most of all they just want to be loved. Jesus talks lots in the bible about how much he loves children. I am SO happy I am able to tangibly love his children for him this month.

Another part of our ministry is to help the mom of the house and reach out to people in the village. We get to the CCH homes about an hour or so before the girls get home from school. The first week we utilized that hour to go pray for people in the village. Door to door we were invited into people’s homes to pray for them and their families. We prayed for people that were sick, crippled, blind, had family problems, alcohol abuse, and that their families would come to know Christ. We prayed for emotional, spiritual, and physical healing for each home and each person. It was amazing that even people that were Hindu or Buddhist invited us into their homes to pray for them. I realized that these people are just looking for hope. The Christians in the village know that their hope is in Jesus but many people, just like in any country, are still seeking out hope. Every Christian that we prayed for said that they wanted everyone in their families to come to know Christ. And they said it with a mixture of faith and desperation. They know that having faith Jesus is the only way to truly live and be saved from the darkness of this world. There is so much power in prayer. God knows every person we prayed for and I know without a doubt that he is working in their lives.

This is the second week of ministry so we have been using the extra hour before the kids get home to help the house moms of CCH. We have been cleaning the house, scrubbing walls, windows, doors, sweeping, and helping her cook and prepare meals. It is such an honor to work side by side with these amazing women. I can’t imagine taking care of 10-15 kids every day. Cooking, cleaning, teaching, and loving each one of them. I cannot even express the amount of respect I have for these women. Some of the moms are only 25! God is seriously giving these women strength and it is such an inspiration to see the love that they continually pour out on these kids and their families.

I am so excited to be working with CCH this month. I came here to be a blessing to these kids and these families but I can promise you that they have blessed me and taught me more in the past two weeks than I ever could have fathomed. It’s going to be really hard to leave India.

Pray that love will overflow this month
