Nothing can separate us from Your love….Romans 8:39
And who am I to deserve this love?
Well, I was a nobody, but now, now I am the daughter of a King. So yes I am a somebody to somebody. And I’m not just a somebody, I’m everything to somebody. And that somebody is the God of the universe. You don’t think He is big enough to love everyone like that? Your brain isn’t big enough to comprehend what He is capable of, so I understand because my brain isn’t big enough either. And that’s comforting. To know that My God is bigger than I can imagine, loves me more than I can fathom, and has plans that are greater than my wildest dreams.
And he knows me. Not in a “hey I see you once a week at church” kinda know me. He knows me in a “yes that’s my daughter, she likes half a bottle of syrup on her pancakes, she’s terrified of snakes and she makes fish lips when she’s really mad.” But do I know him? It’s kind of sad that I don’t take time to get to know this guy that loves me so much. In fact, it says that he knew me before I was even born and he knows my future. So technically he knows me better than I know myself.
That means that he knew every time I was going to mess up and every time I’m going to mess up. So if this guy created me, knows me, and is in control of everything then why didn’t he just make me perfect? Well he didn’t want to create robots, so he gave us free will. Free will gives us the choice to do what we want, believe what we want, and live how we want. That’s why I’m a hot mess sometimes.
God gave us free will and we’re down here on earth making a mess of ourselves, so He said ok these people need some direction. So he gave us an instruction manual, many know it to be called the bible, I like to think of it as a reality check. People think the bible is full of rules and death sentences, when it is, in fact, a love story that’s full of grace and forgiveness. The reality is that the people the bible talks about were very real people just like you and me. These people in the bible, like Moses, David, Paul, Noah…they struggled and failed, cried out to God, were forgiven and then messed up again. Sometimes even worse. Continuously. Murderers, adulterers, liars, thieves. Not the best of people. But God forgave them time and time again. Why? BECAUSE HE LOVES US! So I guess the bible is just a big book about redemption. Either way it’s surprisingly relevant and encouraging, you should give it a read.
