Tucked away on the outskirts of Beira is a true sanctuary hidden amongst the trees. This is where you can find Kedesh, a boys home for orphans or boys whose parents are no longer able to care for them. While around 25 guys ranging from 8-20 years old officially live at Kedesh, you are always able to find upwards of 40 boys running around seeking to escape from the local slums into this treehouse oasis.

While in Mozambique my team, Nooma to Nations, had the privilege of helping out around Kedesh alongside team Pharos. Here is a glimpse at a few of the boys from the home who live in this paradise.

Bode (Boo-day)
Bode was a little guy with a lot of power. Known for his killer volleyball serve, if he wasn't on the court he was usually in the kitchen frying up grasshoppers for the crazy Americans to eat. Unfortunately, a few weeks after we left Kedesh Bode passed away from malaria.
