This month our entire squad was together in Mozambique. We were staying at Iris ministries in Dondo and were separated by team to go out to work with other ministries. This month my team was at Kedesh, a boys' home, on the outskirts of the closest major city, Beira.
7:00am Wake up because it is so hot I can no longer sleep
7 – 7:30 Wait in line for the bathroom because I am living with 17 other girls
7:30 It's almost my turn to use the bathroom so I have to go haul a bucket of water from the water container. There's no running water on the property so it's bucket showers & bucket flushing for the month. Obviously I am now a professional at both.
7:30-8 Get ready for the day. Put on my capalana (a skirt/wrap thing) to I can walk around outside at Iris. At Iris the girls had to wear skirts and have our knees covered at all times.
8:00 Go get my piece of bread for breakfast.
8:10 Go move my tent under the covered patio incase it rains during the day. I chose to sleep in my ten this month because it was significantly cooler outside than inside.
8:15-8:20 Pick-up truck arrives to take us to our ministry site, Kedesh, which is a boys home outside of Beira. All of the Americans are now running around because we're not actually ready since the truck isn't supposed to at Iris until 8:30. Everyone wonders what happened to everyone in Africa always being late.
9:00 Arrive at Kedesh.
9:00-5:00pm Hang out at Kedesh. This month my team was with another team, Pharos, at ministry. We did everything including construction, clearing out the pond aka The Swamp, transplanting trees, digging trenches, cooking onion rings, baking cakes, playing UNO and other games, playing tetherball, disc golf, & tons of volleyball among other things.
5:30 Get back to Iris and eat a dinner of rice & gravelly beans or rice & sandy greens.

7:30 Worship/Session
9:30-10 Bed time/fake personal time. There is no such thing as alone time or privacy on the race so you just sought out a place with the least amount of people for any attempts at quiet time.
