From the moment our team was picked up by Pastor Juan and
Pastor Julian I felt at home. I am excited to tell you that we are serving in a
church/school which is linked with Compassion International! Maybe you have
sponsored a child through them… if so and they are from Peru let me know and I
will say “Hola!” to your child. J

I am living in a home of a man who attends the church. (30
minute pause from typing) I have just found out that his name is Nemecio but we
can call him Neme. He says he will be my Spanish teacher if I will be his
English teacher. At the rate we talk we might learn 2 words a day but it is
worth it!

Also in our home is Neme’s 2 brothers. One brother lives
upstairs on the roof with his wife, son Kevin (12 years old), and daughter
Miranda (4 years old). Kevin is a great kid. He is always doing homework or
hanging out with us saying “Yes, Yes” to everything as we say “Si, Si.” We also
had a water fight in the house while no one else was around the first day.
Kevin was the only person with a water gun. Kevin won.

Miranda is a typical 4 year old princess. While being a
typical child, she tested her limits with me right away. I have taught her we
must love, not hit strangers in the face for no reason when they are going to
be living with you for many more days. Our friendship progresses each day.
Example: 5 minutes ago she filled up a cup of water for me while sitting in a
chair across from me playing with her toys.

Let’s get back to the church shall we? Wednesday night we attended
a young adults group for ages 18-? (I think they said 30 but that might include
the leaders). My heart was so filled with joy! The room was packed! There were
about 10 groups made up of 6-7 people as well as at least 20 leaders (mostly
men!). Laughter and music filled the room throughout the night while finishing
with open honesty in going to the stage to receive prayer for anything needed.
These people my age are on FIRE for the Lord!

Prayer Request: God would continue filling us to be used for the
good of this Church/ School. That our team would continue as a strong unit on a
foundation of Christ. That it would be revealed to me the root issue of why I
struggle with not feeling loved by my team when I know they do.

God bless you!
