To start to tell you this story I think I must tell you what
happened at the bus stop. While waiting for the bus, which in Quito, Ecuador
can be awhile, I drifted off into private worship for God. I began to sing a
song called “Your Favor” by Elevation Worship
“Your favor follows
me… I’LL GIVE YOU EVERYTHING I HAVE because I was undeserving and you chose me.”
After several bus rides to go see the equator and back I
took a second to stop and pull out my camera. Looking down I was shocked to see
my bag, which I carefully placed across my body and in front of me all day, had
been cut into on the side. My new camera was gone. It was a trip gift from my
mother.
My first reaction was “That camera was mine! How dare that
person take what is mine!”
Next I said out loud in a calm voice “Lord, I surrender this
to you.” Peace instantly came over me.
As I got back to my hostal I processed with God. What if
that knife had missed the bag during the bus ride? What if the knife would have
cut me instead? Lord, thank you that your favor follows me. I’ll give you
everything I have.
I wasn’t the only one though: two of my Squad-mates had
their bag stolen full of iPod, Mac Notebook, Bibles and two other Squad-mates
was jumped by a group who took a wallet, team cell phone, and team money.
We will not stop because of these things taken from us. Satan
will try to stop us, but God has already won. We know God is more than enough
for us. We know His favor is upon us.
I was cut deep on the bus…. But I am freer because of it…
Praise God!
