Haiti Re-Cap

What a treat to be back in a country I love so dearly in month two. I treasure the words my Mom spoke going into month two, about how sweet it was of the Lord to bring me back to a place so pivotal to the Lord and I. During this month the Lord did several things. In the beginning he led me to new levels with my relationship him . He proved himself faithful and tender when he didn’t have to. He entrusted me with new relationships within my squad, and within the children, teens, the staff at mission of hope, and within the villages. He also restored the joy of stealing away to be alone with Him. Overall Haiti was a good month.

At the beginning of the month I was presented with a choice. My Heavenly Father extended his hand out to me asking me for something, but in placing what I held in my hands in His, He would close His hand around mine gently inviting me to allow Him to pull me into deeper waters of trust and intimacy with Him. I had the choice to say no, but deep down I knew that I didn’t want to miss out on where He was (and still is) leading me.

This month was also all-squad month. Which meant that our whole squad of 39 were living and working together with Mission of Hope. (On the race your squad are the people traveling to the same countries but you are broken down into smaller teams and dispersed throughout each country every month.) It was so much fun to see everyone get so excited to see one another and get to spend time with people who aren’t on the same team. Jesus even allowed me to have new friendships formed and strengthened.

To top it all off we were working with an organization that I have served before and I that I absolutely adore. Mission of Hope Haiti. When I found out that we were working with them I was beside myself. Haiti is already such a beautiful country, but the way the Lord is transforming this country through His tool of this organization is astounding. Mission of Hope is comprised of an orphanage, school, clinic, prosthetics lab and facility, they partner with Convoy of Hope and feed 91,000 Haitians a day. Mission of Hope’s vision is to see life transformation of every man woman and child in Haiti, and one of the ways they do this is by indeginous mobilization, which means that their goal is to train up Haitians to go out and reach and train other Haitians. The fact that my squad got to share in this joy of serving alongside this organization was such a sweet experience.

Back to me personally. What a tender month it was with the Lord. I would wake up early in the mornings and go up to the roof of the sunrise and greet the day sitting and watchng the pinks and oranges illuminate the mountains that sit behind Mission of Hope excited for the opportunities that the day would bring. I felt some mornings as if the colors and clouds were chosen just for me. (probably not true but hey a girl can dream) It was as if the reset button in my heart had been hit. I had been praying for a rekindling in my love for the Lord and he was faithfully and gently answering my prayers.

This is the very basic overview of what happened in Haiti. To put everything into words would take days, weeks, months. As the Lord leads maybe I will share more of what He did that month. If you haven’t I suggest you check out Mission of Hope’s website and challenge you to pray about getting involved someway. www.mohhaiti.org
