visiting a secret garden, Miami

It is impossible to summarize any person with words. We often want to define others and even ourselves by their career, what they have, where they live, what they believe religiously, and what experiences they have lived through; but we can’t.

It is true that this section of my blog has been, and will continue to be the most read page.  We decide what value we give to another’s words based on our idea of who they are.  I cannot tell you in any amount of words who I am, so I won’t.  I can however give you a list of facts about me, many of which have been written/ submitted by others.

Here they are at random:

I have two degrees in broadcasting… yet have worked in fashion, publishing, marketing, and yes, radio, film and television.

Two shoe styles have been named after me, one was a strappy bootie and the second a sandal wedge. (one perk of doing P.R. for a shoe designer!)

When I was little I had four years of French exchange students living in my home.

In fifth grade I became an exchange student and lived in France with a French family.

Just before my senior year of high school I decided to somewhat repeat that adventure but this time in Sweden.

I like to take long road trips by myself.  I am my favorite person to spend time with.

I’m known to have a unique taste in everything.

I like dressing up.  It’s wonderful to be a lady in every aspect!

I like to dance.  Ballet is beautiful.

I’m just as happy dancing the night away as I am spending a long dinner with close friends.

I am an extrovert.

I am a deep thinker with a ferocious mind, and passion for justice.

I am an ordained minister.

I teach Sunday School!  (as a volunteer)

I am a visionary.

I always wanted to be Miss Universe… and pursued the chance until I was too old (aged out), placing TWICE as a semi-finalist at states.

I’m sometimes goofy.

I am debt free.

It’s a blessing to be blessed, but a bigger blessing to realize my blessings while I have them!

Traveling is one of my favorite things to do, but there is also something about being totally content with where I am.  It’s a gift.

I was born in Detroit, and have an undying love for the city.

Because I love Detroit, I started an organization here to equip its (and the world’s) next generation of women with the confidence it takes to change the world.

I am passionate about seeing an end to human trafficking, providing a voice to the voiceless, and pursuing justice for the victims.

I frequently take late night walks with the pit bull that lives with me.

I like to kayak, ski, climb mountains, horseback ride, swim and enjoy the beauty of earth.

Sunrises are awesome. Sunsets are my favorite!

I love babies.

I have about 789 children in twelve different countries, each with a special place in my heart.

I have dealt with every kind of person imaginable, and can read character quickly.

I am extremely loyal, trustworthy, love deeply and care.

I like to cook!

I love chocolate, berries, and pizza; but I eat a balanced diet of everything except meat!

I have been a vegetarian since I was born.

I’m okay with being different.

Although I prefer to stay out of the spotlight, nothing can stop me from standing up for the things I believe in, or doing what I love.

My parents are superheroes. I am sure of it.

I like well-organized things.

I like creating things.  Sandcastles, clothing, paintings, and all other things.

I am extremely creative, profoundly imaginative, and an original thinker.

I once posed for a picture with a large group of people while doing PR work with MTV and was later seen in US weekly with Lil Jon.

In the workplace, I am a natural for every situation that requires dealing with people.  I am extremely good when it comes to inspiring and leading others.

I see something in my head, and have a way of figuring out how it should come into existence.

I have the power to affect people’s emotion’s and the ability to truly change how people perceive things.  It’s called passion.

My spirit animal is a unicorn.  I am wildly fascinating and extremely beautiful.  (Thanks to my Squad Mate for this one in a group exercise)

It’s hard to find a word to describe me, but grace is something that flows deep within me.  I’ve loved, cared, forgiven and kept my head up in the toughest times.

I enjoy learning new languages, and often practice by dual speaking (translating entire conversations) to my family and friends.

I am part of only 2.5% of the world’s population that shares the same Myers Briggs personality type as: Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela, John Paul II, Oprah Winfrey, and Bono.

I have a special gift with people, understanding and caring about them.  I like to support, encourage, and bring out the best in others.

I am warm and straight-forward, energetic and fast-paced.

My top strengths are: problem solving, leadership, resourcefulness, teamwork, and innovation.

This is written in a bullet format for readers that are like me and have ADHD. I am in good company though, because Einstein, Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln, Walt Disney, Thomas Edison, and Beethoven all had ADHD as well. It just means I worked much harder to get to where I am. ….and that God loves me and has made my path clear!

My sister was always my light leading the way through the tunnel of life before me, and has brought me a blessing of being an auntie too!

I am a girly-girl at heart, yet have slept with tarantulas, roaches, and scorpions while living in the 3rd world countries that I served on The Race.  Only Jesus could get me through that.

I love Jesus!

Xoxo
