I stepped on the bus, got comfortable in my seat and immediately passed out from exhaustion. Being on an airplane for 14 hours will do that to you. I occasionally woke up, looked out the bus window and scanned the view. One time I woke up, looked out the window and found two Indian men pointing and laughing at us. I thought it could be because we were different but I’m pretty sure it was because all 45 of us were conked out. Some of us even with our mouths open, drooling.

After a good nap we had finally reached our destination. The sun was still up and I was so excited to meet our ministry host, eat dinner and sleep some more of course. I stepped off the bus and saw a beautiful Indian girl walking by, who was probably twelve or thirteen. She turned around and smiled at me. She had a beautiful green and gold punjabi on and her face sparkled with jewelry. As she turned around her long thick braided pony tail whipped around with her and she kept walking. After seeing her smile and the vibrant colors of the city, I fell in love with a country I had only been in for a couple of hours.
I grabbed my bag from under the bus and walked up into our temporary room. We stayed in a catholic hostel for one night, woke up early the next day and headed to where we are staying for the month.
Earlier that morning we heard that our home was 9,500 square foot. We laughed thinking surely it was a mistake. As we ate breakfast and sipped on our chai tea we joked about how we were about to live in a mansion this month. We talked it up so much. Jokingly, we said “It probably has a fully stocked Keurig.” “Did you hear they flew out the cast of Modern Family to perform a live show for us?” After that we started talking about how Jesus would’ve sipped on His Chai tea some of us said pinky up and then we all agreed he would grip it with His manly carpenter hands almost breaking the itty bitty cup with his strength.
We headed out shortly after breakfast. All six of us were giddy, smiling at each other with wide eyes. We could not wait to finally meet the sweet babies that might or might not be where we were living.
Finally we were here. We pulled up and looked at the tall building in front of us, all still smiling and laughing. There was indeed a large, mansion in front of our eyes.
After taking a tour of the place it was finally confirmed that there were children on the top floor of our home. This evening we met and fell in love with each baby. We cuddled them for hours. I cried happy tears. I’m so thankful God chose us to come here and help.

My team and I are currently living in a recently launched Sarah’s Covenant Home. It is completely unfurnished except for the top floor where seven beautiful special needs babies lay their heads at night. This mansion is where God’s children are brought in off the street and where babies are saved from death and rejection. Here they receive unconditional love. This month we hope to help Sarah in every way possible.
After meeting all the children we went downstairs and unpacked. I set up my sleeping pad sat down and thanked God for saving His children and blessing them with such a beautiful place to live. They may have been cast out by society but at Sarah’s Covenant Home they are fought for and prayed over. God loves them so much.
