Hello, I am currently a student at Evangel University working on her Elementary and Middle School Math degree in Education. I will soon be graduating in the Spring 2019, then I will embark on an incredible journey August 2019 for the World Race.
I’m a girl who loves life and the people around them. I love my family and the laughter and adventures we share. I love flowers, fruit, pandas, and all things nice. I love to go on spontaneous adventures and hold onto lovely memories of life. I love to smile and see others smile. I love finding joy in the everyday moments. I am just a normal, average girl about to embark on an adventure of a life time all for the glory of the Lord!
This will be an 11 month journey in 11 countries doing various forms of ministry. We will be serving the “least of these” within the real and raw communities of this world. Through the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries within local communities. We will be working with the people of this world to enhance the kingdom of God. The counties I will be traveling to are China, Nepal, India, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia.
Now, you may be wondering, why choose the World Race?
Throughout my school years here at Evangel, I have been surrounded by a group of fellow believers who have strengthened and filled me in my walk with the Lord. I had two friends who have now embarked on their own World Race journey (Erin Cummings and Karrie Noak). As I heard about this trip, I always thought it would be incredible to go on, however I only thought it was just a dream. As I journeyed through life, I could never shake the idea of the World Race, it just kept popping back into my head. Then one day, as I was in a crowded room, the idea of the World Race came back into my thoughts. So I did the natural thing in that moment, I went to research it. As I was on the World Race page, I came short of breath and the room became silent (even though people were still talking). In this silent, breathless moment, I heard the Lord say, “Go.” I knew He was talking about the Race and so I promised I would go after I graduate. And here I am, getting ready to embark on this incredible journey!
Some days I feel unqualified for such an opportunity. I feel like there are many people who could be better for this position, but every day God reminds me that He wants me there. He shows me through the people around me and their support during this time. He shows me through the opportunities presented to me. Some of these opportunities I don’t even understand at the moment until later. I just think it is so incredible to see how God is working and moving through me to go on this Race.
Many blessings,
Laura Leigh Armstrong
