The official definition of mission according to the internet is: the vocation or calling of a religious organization, especially a Christian one, to go out into the world and spread its faith. Can’t we spread the good news of the gospel anywhere we are though? Absolutely. Jesus calls us in a unique and individual way to spread our testimony of faith to those he has placed around us.

  Since my early years of high school, I have dreamed about traveling around the world and having experiences with new cultures and people. I was still exploring my faith and wasn’t certain in what facet, yet I started to feel a slight nudge in my heart. I decided to pursue world missions last summer in Uganda. It changed me as a follower of Jesus and it changed my view on what missions means.

  To discover more about missions we can look at the great commissioner himself, Jesus Christ! Let’s turn to Hebrews 9:14 for a moment and see;

  “How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!”

Wow, Jesus had the ultimate servants heart. He not only gave up his divinity, but his life so you and I are able to serve and love him, knowing we have a hope and an everlasting future with him. That is love. Love surrenders to serve and take care of others. To me, serving means uplifting one another in our walk of life, despite our mess ups and sinful flesh. There is a certain beauty that comes with giving up comfortability or your own needs to give and serve to those in greater need.

 On the World Race, I will have the opportunity of serving and meeting the needs of  others, just as Jesus gave up his life for each and every one of us. He continues to show his love still through serving us daily. I feel called to give up my life in America to go and serve others that may have never heard the name Jesus before and I cannot wait to see him work miracles in the hearts of many.

  Thank you for your consideration of sponsoring my journey across the world. I will be traveling to the 10:40 zone, which stretches from Northern Africa into the Middle East and Asia, this is considered the area of the world where the Gospel is yet to be reached. I would love your help and partnership in this mission to serve!
