While being in college and being actively involved on campus, my day consisted of waking up at 5:30 a.m. for early workouts, going to class, studying, library time, and sorority commitments involving meetings and events, all while managing to get five hours of sleep. Here in month two in the Dominican Republic, the focus has not been on how much I can do to show a child the Lord’s love, how many people I can reach out to show the amazing love of the Heavenly Father? The focus is not based on a schedule, how much work I can get done and how quickly I can get it done? The focus is on how I can listen to the Lord through the task He has asked me to keep my eyes set on for that day. The focus is on focusing on being still and listening to Him in that particular moment He wants me to be still and listen to Him. This month has been about focusing on God more and thinking about a schedule or a task less. The task has been growing and prospering my relationship with God. I have been blessed this month to be able to sit and listen to God. I have been graced this month to focus on my eyes being set on Him no matter what I am doing, no matter where my head space is at, no matter what the weather is like. The Lord wants all His beloved children to sit down with Him and rest in His love, His peace, His Glory, His healing, His empowering embrace and light, His strength, His grace, His pure love for us. With your heart set on the Lord, you will never rest in fear, but rest in Him and be blessed by all His loving power. I choose to always delight in the Lord, give thanks to the Lord by delighting in Him and His blessings by just simply sitting and listening to Him. I choose to do this even when I am digging in a muddy trench, even when I am watching a beloved community praising the Lord, even when I am sitting on the porch watching the rain fall.
Psalm 139:12- “even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.”
Lamenations 3:22-23,25- “the faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease, Great is his faithfulness, His mercies begin Fresh in each morning. The Lord is good to those who depend on Him, to those who search for Him.“
