I miss home. I miss the clean smell of clothes. I miss my moms soothing voice and my dads smile. I miss the comfort of being around people who know my past and each small thing about me. I miss being able to drive whenever I want and the ability to be alone. Being on the world race is hard. Being away from the people who you love and who love you back for 9 months is not something that comes easy. But, I know this is where God wants me. Life here is not comfortable and that is exactly why God brought me here. At home I am comfortable. I have my own room, my own bed, endless amounts of clothes, a fridge full of food, my parents, my friends, freedom to go wherever I want.
Although I miss all those things, I can not grow in the places I find comfort. If I have every need met at my hands, I won’t ever turn to God. I signed up for the race to “find God” and He found me. He was there all along, but in the comforts of my life I never made an effort to see where He was at. I think God brings us through hard things so we feel uncomfortable and have to choose Him. My prayer for each person who reads this is to find what makes you uncomfortable. Find what scares you. And go do it. That gut feeling you get when you feel like you should speak out, go hug a random stranger, buy somebody’s meal, isn’t for nothing. That gut feeling is God nudging at your heart and saying, “Be bold and do this for me.” I think we get so caught up in ourselves and what other people will think that whenever the Holy Spirit is literally tugging at our hearts we just ignore it. The God of the entire UNIVERSE is asking us to do something so small yet so impactful and because of our selfish ways we ignore it. Do the things that seem uncomfortable and scary!!! I promise you, you will never regret it. God uses people just like you and me to do the craziest things for His Kingdom. You just have to say yes to that small, gut feeling you get inside. I hope that this blog challenges you and the next time you have the urge to pray for a stranger or whatever it may be, you do it. Because it’s not even YOU who will be doing the thing, it’s the Holy Spirit using you as His vessel. Let Him use you. It’s what we all were created for.
