The Little Weaver, Pt. 2
And Now, Ladies and Gentlemen, we come back with the promised update…
Because the colony of forest-dwellers was responsible, they gave the little girl a time frame so that she could collect enough branches and vines for her basket before she left for distant lands. Because she knew that time was short, she began to ask her friends and neighbors if they had leaves or sticks to spare. A couple or her friends gave sticks and leaves to the little girl generously, but the time frame was restricting, and most did not give them right away, so to her it seemed as if she would not complete her task in time. Discouraged, she continued to seek people and ask if they would help her, but her heart gave up on her endeavor as the time neared to leave the forest and foray into the desert.
Nevertheless, while still in the forest, the little girl was given a very dull task of sorting a pile of rubbish so that the forest could look organized when some distant relatives came on a periodical visit. The little girl did not like this task, but for doing it, she was promised she could glean a couple of leaves off the pile to build her basket, so she spent long days doing this unrewarding task, asking herself if this roundabout way of carrying water was all she was meant for. Nevertheless, the little girl persevered, and without asking, the well flooded, prompting some of her relatives, to give her an enormous pile of leaves, sticks and vines, despite the fact that they needed these to build their own basket. Awed, she re-visited the well, remembered how worthwhile her primary task was, and, while she was concentrated on the fountain, she given a secondary task.
This task was to guide two new forest dwellers in the ways of the forest, for which she was given a few sticks to add to her basked. She did this job joyfully, hoping to in this way also share the water freely given to her. So, she toiled at both jobs, seeing if the well would again flood and send in some more sticks and leaves to meet her deadline. So, she waited, the well flooded again and the little girl received an outpouring of affection manifested through sticks and leaves, some, from people she had never even heard of. So, with these materials, the basket has two thirds completed, but now the little girl is now more confident that every part of the full basket, down to the smallest twig, will be brought in on the tides of the well….
The company sincerely apologizes for the interruption, and promises to resume the story as soon as there is an available update. And now, back to our regularly scheduled program…
