A few weeks ago I got the idea to interview my squad members as a way to introduce those who are close to me to the people I will be serving with for a year, and I immediately got excited about the idea! So this is the start of a new little blog series where I’ll post about 3 interviews per blog post of each of my squad mates. I’ll also link their blogs so y’all can read more into their hearts. I hope each of you who read these can enjoy getting to know a little bit about the W Squad.

Marianna Harris

1. Where are you from and how old are you?

“I’m from Dallas, Texas, and I’m 21 years old.”

2. When did you become a Christian?

“I was about 7 when I realized Jesus loved me and that I wanted to be with Him forever, but when I was 19, Jesus revealed Himself to me in a way He’d never done before, and I committed my life to pursuing Him!”

3. What is one difficult thing you are proud to have overcome?

“I’m proud to have overcome anger and resentment. For a long time, it was largely anger that motivated my every thought, word, and action. It ate me away from the inside out. I still, in a way, struggle with anger, but through various life lessons, Jesus is showing me the root of my bitterness, and is beginning to turn it into love.”

4. Why did you decide to join The World Race?

“I decided to join The World Race after reading Kisses From Katie. The book awakened a deep longing in my heart to become fully dependent on Jesus, and experience Him in a new way.”

5. What are you passionate about?

“I’m passionate about words! I love reading and writing so much. They’ve been a part of my life since I was a little girl. I am always writing short stories, poems, or journal entries, and I like to think of books as friends, not just made up stories. :)”

6. What is your current life verse?

“Isaiah 60:19, ‘The sun shall no longer be your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; but the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.'”

7. What is one thing you want people to know about you?

“I want people to know that it takes me a bit longer than most people to process new situations and emotions and that I may seem shy and reserved at first, but I always open up in the end. I have a great sense of humor that comes from the ability to notice all the quirks of human nature and listen to people’s stories.”

Emily Scott

5. What are you passionate about?

“I am passionate about Christ, nature, music, and family.”

Eric Swiger

1. Where are you from and how old are you?

3. What is one difficult thing you are proud to have overcome?

“There was a time in my life shortly after high school when I turned my back on the church and family and actively pursued sin. I wouldn’t say I overcame this but was pulled out of it through my family’s unconditional love when the world failed me!”

4. Why did you decide to join The World Race?

“I chose The World Race because I believe that the Gospel should penetrate our lives, and that comfort is the greatest hindrance of growth. Also, I love to travel!”

5. What are you passionate about?

“I am passionate that you must be the change you want and evil prevails when good people do nothing.”

6. What is your current life verse?

“Ephesians 2:8, ‘For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.'”

7. What is one thing you want people to know about you?

“I can swing from extreme extrovert to extreme introvert, meaning sometimes I can’t be along and other times I don’t want to see anyone for any reason.”

Until next time. xx
