Last month we had the opportunity to work with an organization called Dignity for Children in Malaysia. Dignity provides affordable education to impoverished and refuge children in the area.

Many of the children come from countries such as Burma, Sri Lanka, and Syria. Throughout the month I heard stories of children coming over because of religious persecution, political unrest, and civil war. Some children had to travel several days hidden inside of small boats with no food or water. Others had to run for their lives through jungles until they arrived to Malaysia. And others were able to obtain visas and come over on airplanes.

During my time at Dignity I worked as a teacher assistant in the 4th and 5th grade classroom. I helped students with homework, made worksheets, corrected papers, and even got to go on two field trips with the kids! The days were long and hard, but God continuously taught me to rely on Him for strength.

Now my team and I are in Thailand working with Asian Tribal Ministries. For two weeks we will be in Karen villages on the border teaching English summer camps. At the end of the month we are meeting with our squad for Parent Vision Trip. My mom will be joining this trip so I’ll have the chance to do ministry alongside her.

Although this month sounds hard on different levels, I am excited to see what the Lord teaches us!
